1 From Franklin, 1992, 184, 197, Doc. 5; and 1994, 85, 114, 304-305, Appendix D, DOCUMENT 5; unchecked.  Franklin pointed out that the location of this house is where the present Borgo Pinti crosses Borgo degli Alfani; the same corner is crossed by the Via dei Pilastri.  On this site, also called the Canto di Candeli as the location of the church of S. Maria dei Candeli, see Bigazzi, Francesco, Iscrizioni e memorie della città di Firenze, Bologna, 1886 [reprint 1968], 41, 301-302, 387; and Costamagna, 1992, 12-13.  The house would have been on whatever street was the Via Nuova in 1522.  Although Franklin knew the location of this site at the Canto a Monteloro, he referred to it as near to the church of S. Lorenzo.  It is actually some distance behind the duomo, not too far from S. Pier Maggiore, the parish of the man from whom Rosso was renting the house and Rosso’s parish at the time the contract was made in the parish of S. Lorenzo.
