Talk on the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (virtual)
Join Cornell Cooperative Extension and Dr. Chad Wall, Field Veterinarian for NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, to learn about the current outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, the threat it poses to NYS poultry production, and how we can protect our birds and stop the spread. This event is for Small Production Flocks as well as Backyard/Hobby Flocks. Topics covered include symptoms of the disease, keeping your poultry safe, and what will happen if the disease is found in your flock or a flock near you. The update will leave ample time for Q&A. Poughkeepsie Book Festival (in person)
The Poughkeepsie Public Library District hosts its annual Book Festival! Meet and greet over 40 authors and illustrators (covering reading ages from preschool to Young Adult), costumed book characters such as Elephant and Piggie, Estaban the Magnificent from The Day the Crayons Came Home, Curious George, and more! There will be fun crafts and activities for the kids. Books will be available to purchase and to have signed by the authors and illustrators who made them. Free to attend. No registration required.

The New York State Archives Partnership Trust invites you to learn about NY’s forgotten female figures. Though the stories of several prominent historical female figures have been explored, many more stories of everyday women whose impact on government, civil rights, labor, education, and war exist. Hear accounts about some of these interesting, lesser-known 19th century New York women that were found in historical repositories throughout the state. Register here!
