Join the Julie Shiroishi for NYS Senate District 39 Campaign Team

This opportunity is available during the Fall 2022 semester. This opportunity can be conducted virtually.

Julie and her husband Adam moved to Beacon in 2007 to raise their family near his parents and his childhood home in Newburgh. Born to an immigrant housewife mom and a Japanese-American truck driver dad, Julie grew up in a union family with two brothers. A first-generation college student who graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, Julie worked in newspaper and book publishing until stepping back from her career to work from home while her two children were young. After the 2016 election, Julie began volunteering to help local candidates. In 2019, she became Chief of Staff to Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson. Now Julie is running to represent the newly created 39th Senate District because 2022 is not a time for politics as usual. Julie has worked in the Legislature and knows how state government operates, but her experience in the private sector and as a working mom taught her how to get things done, and she’s ready to make Albany work for the residents of the 39th Senate district.

Join Julie’s team for the upcoming mid-term election! Students have the opportunity to help out with campaigning, marketing, communications, administrative support, and more!

Hours: Students can register for either 0.5 unit or 1.0 unit of credit ( min. 40 hrs with org over the semester for + 30 hrs of academic work OR min. 80 hr over the semester with org  + 60 hours of academic work)
