Art Exhibit Reception & Artist Talk (in person)

On Friday Oct 7th, the Loeb will host a reception to celebrate the current exhibition On the Grid: Ways of Seeing in Print, followed by a talk by artist Aaron Turner, whose work is included in the show. Aaron will be visiting from Arkansas, where he teaches at the U of Arkansas and directs the Center for Art as Lived Experience and produces a podcast on photographers of color. Much of Aaron’s work as an artist and educator has been dedicated to bringing to light the legacies of artists of color and the personal histories of Black Americans from the Mississippi Delta region.

NAMI Mid-Hudson 2022 Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition Event (virtual)

Anyone is welcome to attend this event and we encourage all to become a member.  Only current members can participate in the ballot vote for board members.  Ballots will be emailed to members as a Google Form to fill out. Votes can be submitted regardless of attending the meeting or not. The deadline is Monday, October 17th, 2022.

Fall Kill AquaBlitz 2022 (in person)

The Fall Kill AquaBlitz is a community event that will explore the under-appreciated living things in the Fall Kill. Teams of volunteers will visit a site along the creek to collect data about what is living in this urban stream. Feel free to come anytime between 2pm – 6pm. REGISTER HERE.

Transportation will be provided from Vassar to the Fall Kill stream site.
Volunteers are needed to get in the stream and help our team collect organisms. We will be looking for: fish, bugs, plants, herptiles, algae, and microbes. Boots and nets will be provided. Photos from the AquaBlitz will be uploaded and identifications verified using iNaturalist, the open source data collection app. Use your phone or your favorite camera.
If possible, please download the iNaturalist app on your phone before you arrive. Click here to get to find it in the app store. We will provide instructions on how to use the app to make observations and collect data.

Buttercup Farm Sanctuary Habitat Improvement Day (in person)

Hard to believe but winter isn’t that far away, and there’s a lot of work to be done at the Buttercup Farm Sanctuary in Stanfordville. Join the DLC and Audubon New York on Saturday, September 17 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM as we help to prepare the sanctuary for the winter months by working on the restoration of the habitats of our feathered friends and always needed trail maintenance. Lunch will be provided.

ENJAN’s 5th Annual Mid-Hudson Valley Gathering

Save the Date! ENJAN’s 5th Annual Mid-Hudson Valley Gathering is organized around the theme of No Rollbacks on Justice. We’ll have speakers, free food, and an opportunity to learn about ENJAN and other local organizations and the work they are doing to end mass incarceration and racism in the criminal legal system.
