Position Description – Neighborhood Survey

The student will support our organization by participating in our neighborhood-wide survey initiative. They will attend volunteer training sessions to learn survey administration techniques, then partner with another volunteer to conduct door-to-door surveys in the Middle Main neighborhood. By gathering valuable resident opinions, they will contribute to informing our community development efforts and fostering positive community engagement.

Position Description – Rental Assistance Program

Our Rental Assistance office is in need of a computer savvy individual who is able to support staff with downloading of documents from a rental portal to a local drive, amongst other small tasks.

Skills: Bilingual Spanish-English, Communications – emails, phone calls, in person outreach, Public speaking/presenting, Data collection/analysis

About: 

Under the umbrella of Hudson River Housing in our Youth Service department we operate a youth and young adult drop in center for youth 25 and under.  Our staff work with youth and young adults 18-25 who are homeless or housing insecure, and need referrals to different offices or agencies that could help with their individual situations. We provide a safe haven for those experiencing different levels of homelessness to come and utilize services we have the ability to provide. Such as , assisting with Housing & Job searches, Laundry services, Shower, Hygiene supplies, donated clothing, and connection to other needed services in the county for clients we serve.

About: 

For the Many is building a grassroots movement of everyday people to transform New York so it works for all of us. We were founded by Vassar students in 2012! Our current local and statewide campaigns focus on housing, wages, and climate. In the last year, we passed historic local housing legislation, including a historic 15% rent reduction in Kingston for rent stabilized units, and won the Build Public Renewables Act, which is the biggest Green New Deal win in U.S. history. Students also helped build and launch the State Assembly campaign for Claire Cousin, a progressive democrat running to represent Columbia and Dutchess counties (AD 106). 

Position Description

There are many roles students can take on at for the many. We offer a student organizing internship, voter engagement work, and more. 

In the Spring of 2024, we will continue working on an exciting state assembly race for Claire Cousin! Students can be apart of our community organizing or student organizing program on campus. Depending on the role students will be canvassing in the Town of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park, phone banking, doing voter registration on campus, and/or putting on events for students on campus!

Exodus Transitional Community

About: 

Exodus Transitional Community (ETC) offers reentry services to justice impacted individuals in the Dutchess County region. We partner with DCJS, DOCCS, and DCFS to offer case management, mentorship, supportive services, and parole-mandated programs to our participants. We also coordinate the Dutchess County Reentry Task Force, where we partner with the Public Defender’s Office and other local organizations to create case plans for individuals who are returning home from incarceration.

Expected Responsibilities/Duties:

Working directly with participants to provide case management services and completing intakes, inputting case data into CRM software, assisting with grant contracts/paperwork, assistance with filing/organization, community outreach/networking with other local organizations and resources, seeking/obtaining donations of food, clothing, and other essential goods (hygiene products, baby supplies, household goods, etc.).

Position Description: 

Advocacy Data Research Intern 

Seeking an Internship Position to assist in our Advocacy Data Research. Research will include analyzing census data on a national, state and local level as well as other local statistical resources.  Data will be used to demonstrate the need for housing that is affordable in the local community, specifically among Black marginalized community members.  Data will also focus on what populations have significant needs for affordable housing.  This research will assist in the Habitat Dutchess Advancing Black Homeownership Program, Diversity Equity Inclusion Program, Homeownership Program and Repair Programs.  This position is critical for marketing and advocacy expansion in the organization.  The intern will perform tasks that include retrieving and analyzing national data, i.e., U.S. Census and other national, state and local resources to create organized presentation of statistical data.  This data collection will be used to assist in grant applications, advocacy campaigns and expansion of the Habitat Dutchess Homeownership and Repair programs.    

The intern will work with the Advancing Black Homeownership Program Manager to create advocacy campaign materials, support reports, assist in planning targeted marketing and utilize data to further and improve programs within Habitat Dutchess.  

The intern will work closely with the Advancing Black Homeownership Program Manager who is the direct reporting supervisor and the COO who oversees the internship program. Both formal and informal evaluations will be completed throughout their internship to allow the intern to reflect on progress. The intern will also work with volunteers within the organization. 

Skills: Ability to use Microsoft office suite programs for research and capturing data, strong reporting and writing skills, ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment. Position will report to ABH Program Manager .Must have transportation. Possibility to be partially remote if needed. Social Media & Marketing Internship Position  

Seeking an Internship Position to assist in our Social Media and Marketing. Platforms include; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and WordPress. Seeking a skilled individual who will continue to follow and establish a yearlong marketing calendar that is able to be carried out and implemented past Internship term. Position will include documenting and scheduling fundraising events, builds, ReStore and other activities in Habitat Dutchess.  The intern will perform tasks in the Development department that include marketing campaigns, research, design and scheduling. Intern should be proficient in Microsoft office, social media platforms and have great organizing skills 

The intern will work with the Development Department to plan, schedule and create social media content, calendars and key marketing campaigns for the organization 

The intern will work closely with the Development Director, who is their direct supervisor. Both formal and informal evaluations will be completed throughout their internship to allow the intern to reflect on progress. The intern will also work with volunteers within the organization. 

Skills: Ability to use multiple media platforms, photography skills a plus, ability to work in a fast paced environment, Capacity to work with a team. Position will report to Development Director. Must have transportation. Possibility to be partially remote if needed.
