Once you have your location you will need to gain permission to shoot there.
Some towns and cities do not require permits and others do. It is the filmmaker/producers responsibility to be look up the rules and follow them for each location.
Vassar College is located in the Town of Poughkeepsie
At this time there is no requirement to have a permit to shoot in the Town of Poughkeepsie, however, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police has been appreciative of an email stating the location, date, and duration of the shoot, and if prop weapons will be used or violence portrayed.

INTERIORS
If someone is generous enough to allow you to use their space for shooting please treat the space with the utmost respect. Film Production is disruptive and you want to be respectful of your hosts. You can use a portion of your budget to offer a fee to shoot on their property. Often electric and water bills will increase while film crews and actors are using a space. This is a cost to be considered for your budget and should be reimbursed to the property owner.
