Foundations of a Movement: Black Americans, Civil Rights, and the Roosevelts

The FDR Library’s annual Paul M. Sparrow Lecture, featuring Basil Smikle, PhD, will focus on the Roosevelt-era foundations of the Civil Rights Movement. Smikle, a political strategist and policy analyst, is a Library Trustee, and Columbia University School of Professional Studies Professor of Practice.

In addition to the in-person discussion, this program will also be streamed live to the official FDR Library YouTube and Facebook accounts. Registered attendees can visit the Library’s special exhibition, Black Americans, Civil Rights, and the Roosevelts, free of charge before the program, from 2-4 p.m. This event will be held in the Henry A. Wallace Center and streamed live to the official FDR Presidential Library YouTube and Facebook accounts.
