Capacity to Compete (virtual)

Over the past year, Pattern has worked with a team of graduate students from NYU on a special project that examined the inequitable access to state and federal grants for communities of different sizes in the Hudson Valley. Our communities all have similar needs at scale – water and sewer infrastructure, parks, downtown upgrades, economic development support, and more. But many communities do not have the time and technical know-how to pursue vital grants that are disbursed through increasingly competitive programs.

Pattern and NYU examined this dilemma through dozens of interviews, and the analysis of local, state, and federal programs. Capacity to Compete will offer recommendations to help the Hudson Valley earn more grant funding to keep our communities vibrant, and our infrastructure in a state of good repair.
