Walkway Connections: Meet Sojourner Truth
Walkway Connections: Meet Sojourner Truth
Sunday, May 18 – 2-3 p.m.
Ulster Welcome Center
87 Haviland Road, Highland, NY
Sojourner Truth holds a special place on the Walkway. Her beautiful bronze statue stands just steps away from our western gate. On Sunday, May 18, hear her story comes alive when actor Angela Henry performs a portrayal of Truth at Walkway Connections.
As she brings to life this abolitionist and fierce proponent of women’s rights, Ms. Henry, in costume as Sojourner Truth, draws on the speeches and correspondence of the iconic figure to help us understand why Smithsonian magazine named her one of the “100 Most Significant Americans of All Time.”
This Walkway Connections event takes place at the Ulster Welcome Center (87 Haviland Road, Highland).
