We look forward to seeing you all In-Person and/or on Zoom!
We always need volunteers to be Class Managers and to help in the Hospitality Room. Class Managers—both for On-Campus and Zoom classes—will be trained and receive support throughout the semester. Please consider volunteering!!!
TO VOLUNTEER FOR ANY POSITION, EMAIL US AT: lli@vassar.edu.
Some other important information to help make the Semester easier and more enjoyable for you:
1. NEW THIS SEMESTER–PRIORITY REGISTRATION: In order to better balance our desire to acknowledge our valued volunteers while ensuring a fair and accessible registration process for all, commencing with the Spring 2026 semester, priority (early) registration will be administered as follows:
A. Seat Cap: The number of seats available for early registration will remain capped at 30% of the available seats in a class.
B. Single-Class Limit: Members eligible for early registration may register early for ONLY ONE CLASS. They will be able to enroll in additional classes during the general registration period.
C. Active Member Requirement: Early registration will continue to be limited to “active members”. As is currently the case, “active members” are those volunteers who have provided substantive volunteer support during the prior semester, as determined by their committee chairs or the Executive Committee.
D. New Waitlist Pilot: Beginning in Spring 2026, we plan to pilot a waitlist system, so that members closed out of a class can indicate their interest and be notified if a seat becomes available. If an opening occurs in a class that has a waitlist, members will be informed according to their chronological placement on the waitlist. At that point, you will have the option to be moved from ‘waitlist’ to ‘registered’. This may require you to drop classes or alter your schedule in order to stay within the 3 on-campus course limit.
2. Badges–Help us save trees by re-using your badge from last semester. Bring your name badge with you when attending In-Person (on- and off-campus classes). If you need a new badge, you will be able to make a new handwritten one with materials available in the Hospitality Room in Kenyon Hall.
3. Parking—We are permitted to park at Kenyon Hall, the North Lot and the lot on the far side of the Athletic Building, which are authorized for use by Vassar LLI on Fridays. Parking is not permitted in the circle drive by Blodgett Hall. If there is no parking available at the three authorized locations, you may park elsewhere on campus. Parking is only permitted in designated spaces (between marked white lines (or blue lines for handicapped spaces)), and is on a first-come/first-served basis. Wherever you park, make sure to have your parking pass clearly visible on your car dashboard; if it is not, you are likely to be ticketed. Note, that to use any of the handicapped accessible spaces, you MUST have a permit showing you are authorized to use this designated parking..
4. Van—Because parking on campus is so tight, there may not be space at Kenyon Hall, the North Lot or the far lot of the Athletic Building; accordingly, members may need to find places to park at various locations around campus. We will provide a shuttle van circulating between the South Lot, the Athletic Building Lot, North Lot and Kenyon Hall all day; if you are parked in another location, you will need to walk over to the van’s pick-up/drop-off spot in one of those locations (pick-up/drop-off spots will be marked). Please be sure to leave extra time to get to class, particularly if you plan to use the van–we only have one van making the rounds.
5. Hospitality Room in Kenyon Hall–The Hospitality Room is open Fridays 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Feel free to stop by any time during the day. Bring your lunch, grab a coffee or snack, connect with your fellow LLI members—or just hang out.
6. Vassar Classroom Etiquette—NO food is permitted in classrooms; liquids must be in covered containers.
7. Zoom Etiquette—Please keep your video ON during Zoom sessions; these sessions are classes, and your instructor and fellow classmates appreciate your being there and present.
8. Add/Drop Period for Classes–the Add/Drop Period will be March 14 – March 19. You may drop a class at any time. You do not have to wait until the drop/add period to do so, but you must wait until the drop/add period to add a class. If you find that your plans have changed between the time you registered for a class and the first day of that class, please DROP THE CLASS to open space for another interested LLI Member. Your consideration will benefit both others and yourself, as it may lead to openings in previously closed classes that you were hoping to attend.
