Hindenburg for AMST/MEDS 381

Awardee: Barry Lam

Semester of Award: Spring 2018

Materials Awarded: A six-month license for Hindenburg digital audio workstation software for students of AMST/MEDS 381.

Project Description:

Students in AMST/MEDS 381 were able to download and use Hindenburg Journalist Pro, a digital audio workstation designed for story-telling-type podcasts, for their work in the course.

Sixteen students in the course used the software to complete every assignment from the course, which consisted of producing a series of audio journalism pieces that included interviewing, scripted narration, soundtracking, and sound design.

Hindenburg was highly effective due to its user-friendliness compared to far more powerful but unwieldy software that employ destructive editing. It is also a relatively cost-effective software.

Upon completion of the course, the license to the software has expired.
