3-D Printer for the Vassar Drama Department

Awardee: Stephen Jones

Semester of Award: Spring 2015

Materials Awarded: We were able to purchase a 3-D printer for the Drama Department.

Project Description:

We were able to use the 3-D printer across many areas of theatrical design necessary for students’ completion of Drama 200. Props designers especially used the printer to make props quickly and for less money than if they had tried to buy the materials themselves online. In addition, scenography students used it to build scale models of their designs in half the time they would previously have used to hand-cut each piece from balsa wood. The costume shop used it to print forms for draping and drafting new costumes. The beneficial impact it has had on the department has been very effective.
