Welcome back, Vassar students, faculty and staff! We hope you had a restful break.

CAAD is thrilled to announce the launch of our new website: creativearts.vassar.edu. We encourage you to explore the site, where you will find information about CAAD, event listings for the upcoming semester, important forms and calls for proposals, and an archive of past CAAD-supported projects and events.

CAAD will be sponsoring and co-producing ModFest 2017, a week and a half long celebration of the arts in its various forms. The theme of this year’s festival is “Raising Voices,” and aims to feature unique voices and expressions from different perspectives and media. ModFest kicks off tomorrow, January 26,  with a traveling concert and reception, and concludes on February 5 with a performance and talk by Audra McDonald. For more information about all the evetns included in the festival, please visit our event calendar http://creativearts.vassar.edu/calendar/.

There are many other exciting CAAD-sponsored events coming up this semester! In March, we will welcome Chris Duffy to host an episode of You’re the Expert on campus, featuring a Vassar faculty member, to be announced very soon.  You’re the Expert is a live show, podcast, and public radio program on 90.9 WBUR, Boston’s NPR station. The radio show uses comedy to make academic research more accessible and exciting. The final selections for Vassar’s faculty participants will be announced soon. Please stay tuned for more information!

In April, CAAD will participate in a Food Symposium that will be held on campus in collaboration with the Asprey Center for Collaborative Approaches to Science as well as other sponsors.

Artist Courtney Starrett, who will have a residency for the Summer of 2017 and serve as a mentor for this year’s Summer Multi-Arts Collectives, will have an exhibition in the Collaboratory in April titled Layered Chiffon. Starrett is assistant professor of fine and digital art at Seton Hall University in New Jersey and co-owner of Plural Studios. Please explore her website for more information!
