What piques your curiosity? New science suggests that curiosity helps us learn, and not just because we might be more excited to learn about something that sparks our curiosity. So put your Limbic Reward System to work for you! If your job is to learn (hello college students), this research suggests that temporal proximity between those subjects you’re curious about and those that excite you less can pay off – or, to use NPR’s example, you can even partner an episode of Breaking Bad with studying your least tempting material, and you might learn and retain what you learned more productively.
