Very proud of this work we just published in Acta Crystallographia F! The research was done by undergrad students in Dr. McLaughlin’s protein crystallography class in Spring ’23, which is run as a CURE (Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience). Students analyzed an unpublished crystal structure from the @SSGCID, then designed/ran experiments to test function. The first three authors listed on the paper are Vassar undergraduates!

The editor of Acta Crystallographia F highlighted the paper and the unique approach of the class to introduce students to protein crystallography research in the issue’s editorial. The structure was also featured on the cover!
