Screening of Moses Tulasi’s Walking the Walk
Thursday, February 11, 12:00p-1:15p
Main Building, College Center, Multipurpose Room 223
Join professor Elías Krell’s course, “Topics in Construction of Gender: Race, Anti/Colonialisms, and Queering Music Performance” for a screening of the film Walking the Walk, followed by a Skype session with director Moses Tulasi and other participants from the film. Walking the Walk follows the participants of Hyderabad, India’s Swabhimana (self-respect) Queer Pride March in February 2015. This film demonstrates how a collective of activists set into motion a political movement that celebrates small successes, demands resources for working-class transgender people, stands up to police violence, and allows the community to grieve for lost loved ones.
