Break out your favorite poetry books, journals, or start browsing online–tomorrow is Poem in Your Pocket Day! This celebration is part of National Poetry Month, and started in 2002 with the Office of the Mayor of New York City, along with the Departments of Cultural Affairs and Education. The initiative is now a national one, thanks to the Academy of American Poets, encouraging people all over the country to select a poem and carry it throughout the day, sharing it with family, friends, and acquaintances. Some areas even provide venues to read their poems aloud! So start searching for your favorite poem, even a poem of your own!
