It is true that Google is not always the most effective research tool. Because it has access to so many different types of sources, it is difficult to filter the useful and reliable ones from those that are not; however, Google News has a special feature called the Newspaper Archive, in which users can search for archived newspaper articles by publication title, article topic, or topic. Each search produces numerous scanned copies of articles from a range of newspapers, from various points in history to the present day. This resource offers free access to the past, and can serve as a useful and reliable source of information about any topic. Please watch the video below for a quick tutorial on how to use the Google Newspaper Archive.
