Does acting matter? If so, why? These are the questions that film critic and author David Thomson tackles in his newest book Why Acting Matters (Yale University Press, 2015). In this podcast, Brian Lehrer of The Brian Lehrer Show discusses acting and our fascination with it despite the fact that, as he puts it, “real life beckons.” Thomson joins in with Lehrer over the phone and the two men discuss this topic appropriately-timed just days before the Oscars.
If you’d like to hear more of what Thomson has to say on the matter, be sure to check out his book which Sarah Grant from Booklist called, “Entertaining and thought-provoking . . . This is a book for appreciators of film and theater; for actors, whether aspiring or established; and for anyone who wants to know why acting has fascinated and enlightened us for centuries.”
