Okay, it’s a sprint to the finish now for most of us in academia. After what was (we hope!) a restful Thanksgiving break, you may find yourself tempted to throw every waking moment and all of your energy into accomplishing your goals for this semester, particularly if you’ve fallen behind a bit (and who hasn’t?). An essay in Scientific American suggests that actually what you need with a lot on your plate is a commitment to mental downtime. Give yourself a little mental break, read the article, and then remember to incorporate a bit of balance into your plan of attack for the rest of term. Good luck all!
