CAAD-Supported Courses

There will be 2 different CAAD-Supported Courses offered over the 2016-17 academic year. See below for more information:

ENGL 380 Poetry and the Aesthetics of Touch, Paul Kane

Drawing on the eighteenth century definition of “aesthetic” as ‘relating to perception by the senses’ (rather than the later usage that concentrates more exclusively on “beauty”), the aim of the course is to explore the experiential dimensions of poetry from literary, philosophical, neuropsychological and physical perspectives.

AFRS/AMST/WMST 366 Exquisite Intimacy, Lisa Collins

An interdisciplinary exploration of the work and role of quilts within the US. I met with Collins and discussed different ways CAAD could help develop this course that will be taught again.  I also think there is some opportunity to engage some additional visiting artists with this course, and possible collaboration with the Maker’s Space.
