VELLOP: Giving Back
VELLOP (Vassar English Language Learners Outreach Program) is one of VAST’s sister programs that pairs Vassar College mentors with immigrant students in the Poughkeepsie school district to help improve their English and increase academic achievement.
Last spring, a Vassar student named Sierra Soto created this 12-minute documentary entitled “VELLOP: Giving Back.” Watch it to learn more about the challenges ELLs face at Poughkeepsie High School and how much Vassar students learned from working with them.
