A quick hello and a few thoughts on Vassar

Hello! 🙂 My name is Anna Sophia Doyle. I’m a sophomore, an Economics major, and this year, an intern for the Office of International Services. I was born in Mexico, to a British father and a Bolivian mother and have lived the best part of my life in Honduras.

Because I come from an international background and the experiences I’ve had with people and in places all over the world have defined me as a person, I was looking for something very specific when choosing a university. I guess I wanted to be somewhere where I would be able to fit in and find a place for myself, but also be challenged and grow as student and a person. And Vassar, with its stimulating and diverse environment, filled with incredibly interesting people and ideas vastly different to myself and my own, fit the bill precisely. As Sebastian says in a another post, Vassar has a place for everyone… especially within the international community. I’ll be studying “more abroad” in London next year and am curious to see whether I’ll find a community of people as open, passionate about their interests and welcoming as the one I’ve experienced these last two years at Vassar. I’ll report back…
