Supporting deep learning research and teaching at Vassar

Awardee: Josh de Leeuw

Semester of Award: Spring 2018

Materials Awarded: NVIDIA Ti1080 GPU

Project Description:

With the Fergusson grant I was able to create a workstation machine in my laboratory to support GPU-intensive machine learning research and teaching. With this resource in place I was able to spend more time covering machine learning models in my computational modeling class (COGS319), and several students in the course elected to use deep learning methods for their semester project. It has also been used to support URSI research, independent study projects, and thesis work in Cognitive Science.
