Life in a Day (Planning Stages)

For our project we are going to film Sam and several of her friends’ days from waking up in the morning to going to bed at night, while asking various questions to guide the movie along. Sam’s movie is based off of a Sundance Festival movie in which people from all over the world filmed their days and sent in their footage to a director. The director edited over 4,500 hours of footage together to make a meaningful movie, titled Life in a Day.
Today we brainstormed the following questions:
1. What did you dream last night?
2. What’s in your backpack?
3. What are your pet peeves?
4. What are your dreams/goals in life?

We also thought about the kind of music we will be using. We tried to pick a variety of music genres to portray different emotions and feelings that Sam and her friends feel throughout the day.

Hi my name is samantha, i am an 8th grader a poughkeepsie middle school. i guess i could consider music one of my hobbies because its such a big part of my life. i’ve been playing the violin for about a year and a half now and i would never even consider quitting. I also like indie rock music. im not a big fan of hip hop. i am very athletic. i do sports like cheerleading and crew. im kind of an excersice fanatic. even though i like living in the present my future goals would probably be to become a better violinist than my teacher and also one day maybe go into the olympics with my freinds by my side. 😀

Here is my favorite song:

你好!(Hi!) I’m a Junior at Vassar College and I’m majoring in Chinese with a correlate in Education. I just completed a semester abroad in China, studying Chinese at Beijing University. My goal is to become a high school Chinese teacher in the United States, but I also plan on teaching English in China. I am going to have my first experience teaching English this summer in a school just outside of Shanghai. I was influenced to become a Chinese teacher by my high school Chinese teacher. She is a caring woman with a spirited approach to teaching. She has taught me that there is so much to learn from Chinese culture and China also has a lot to learn from America. With China’s increasing development, the ability to speak Chinese is becoming more and more prevalent. I also think the language is incredibly interesting and full of history. I would love to share my passion for Chinese with students and hope that I can make as much of an impact on them as my teacher did on me.

Here is a video about a crazy experience I had in China:
