Research Intern | CUNY Queens College

2008-2010

I conducted biochemistry research in Professor Savage-Dunn’s lab. My independent research project on a novel cancer thermotherapy won awards in the New York City Science and Engineering Fair.

NASA INSPIRE Student | NASA

2009 – 2010

I was selected from a highly competitive applicant pool to participate in an online learning community of students interested in STEM careers. Through the program I attend a full-scholarship engineering camp organized by NASA.

Research Intern | Vassar College

2010-

I am conduct neurotoxicology and neuroimaging research in Professor Susman’s neuroscience and biology lab. I presented in 2011 Society for Neuroscience Conference at Washington DC. I will also be co-authoring a paper to be submitted for publication this year.

Student Scholar | Northeast Regional Alliance

2010-

I am a scholarship recipient for the MedPrep progam, a three-year longitudinal program that prepares students for admission and success in medical school.

Volunteer/Work Experience

New York Hospital Queens

2009-2010

I was a hospitality volunteer in the Emergency department. I learned to communicate effectively and translate Chinese & Spanish for hospital personnel and patients. I also learned to respond quickly to emergency situations.

World Science Festival- Marketing Intern

2011

I coordinated the marketing campaign as part of a team and oversaw the marketing and communications aspect of a large 5-day science event in NYC. I also independently worked on specific projects as the marketing coordinator.

Tzu Chi Foundation

2007-2010

I gained fundraising, entertainment, and hospitality experience by hosting events, fundraising for charity, performing arts, and visiting nursing homes.

Vassar Warner Home

2011-

I coordinate activities and spend time with the senior residents of the Vassar-Warner Home. I work in the Personal Care department, caring for adults who require additional assistance. It is a valuable experience in communication and understanding the concerns of the senior population.

Leadership Positions

Global China Connection- Secretary

2010-

In addition to representing Vassar College in the national organization, I help lead a discussion group about modern China. I’m particularly interested in the rapidly developing fields of biosciences and healthcare policy, and how developments in Asia compare to what we have in the United States.

Vassar Students Association – Junior VP

2012-

As the vice president of the class of 2014, I use my voice as a student advocate for my class. I also help coordinate class and campus-wide initiatives that benefit the student body.

Vassar Committee of Inclusion and Excellence

As a student representative in this joint committee with campus faculty, we coordinate initiatives that ensure that all students benefit from campus resources and have the opportunity to excel at Vassar and beyond.

Vassar Asian Students Alliance – Secretary

2012-

I participate in the executive board of a campus-wide cultural organization, planning events that draw awareness to Asian American issues as well as collaborate with other cultural minority organizations. As the secretary, I am responsible for maintaining agendas and contacts.
