Why this looks valid

  • Having had recent phishing events, a login warning email could be sent to members of the community.
  • The notification looks similar to one that may be received from Google Apps for Education regarding suspicious activity.

Why this is phishing

  • The “from” address is not any Vassar College address nor does it pretend to be.
  • The URL, or link, contained in the message does not go to a vassar.edu address or any associated Vassar College service.
  • The URL, or link, directs to a Microsoft Outlook web login page.  Vassar does not use Microsoft email.

  • This is an extremely dangerous Phishing attempt. If you clicked on this link and may have completed the form, please contact the Service Desk immediately at x7224 or servicedesk@vassar.edu
  • Report it as phishing to Google. Before deleting the message, make sure to click on “report phishing”.
  • A little paranoia goes a long way! Be suspicious of any email messages similar to this one.
