Some members of BSU visited Trinity College for this year’s CHAS Conference. This year’s theme was Reclaiming My Time: From the Margin to the Center… ring a bell?

On behalf of the Office of Campus Life & Diversity, VSA’s Committee on Equity and Inclusion, and the Black Students Union, there was a ~free~ trip to see Black Panther in 3D!! 

A Very Black Valentine

Kwanzaa Celebration

Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration held in the United States from December 26th to January 1st. Its purpose is to honor the influence of African heritage in African-American culture. BSU decided to collaborate with the African Students’ Union, the Library, and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. Watch this YouTube video to see how we decided to celebrate together. MBSA Coffeehouse

The Multiracial, Biracial Student Alliance, and BSU collaborated on this Coffeehouse event meant to center various art forms created by Students of Color on campus. Here are some of the artwork presented at the event:

CSA/ASU Dance Workshop

The Caribbean Students’ Alliance and African Students’ Union invited members of BSU to attend their dance workshop in preparation for their Mug Night that weekend.

Big Sib/ Lil Sib Brunch

This was our very FIRST Big Sib/ Lil Sib event! We spent all morning cooking up a delicious breakfast for our First Year and upperclassmen members.  Then we all got together, engaged in great conversation and got to know more about each other!

Night Market

Food is the ingredient that binds us together. As we spent the entire night cooking up some yams, cornbread, fried chicken, and mac & cheese for a campus-wide event spearheaded by the Asian Students’ Alliance, we enjoyed the time that we had to spend with each other not complaining about doing work. Generations Outing

Members of BSU’s Executive Board decided to join Generations, an on-campus group dedicated to helping the elderly at our local nursing home, to help them celebrate Halloween!

Black First Year Welcoming Dinner and Orientation

Our first event of the Fall semester! Members of the Black identifying organizations on campus (Black Students’ Union, Caribbean Students’ Alliance, African Students Union, African Violets, Council of Black Seniors, and Multiracial Biracial Students’ Alliance) came together to put on this wonderful event for Black identifying First Years! A number of Black faculty and administrators also joined us to discuss assessing resources, scholarships, internships, succeeding in academics, and building community on campus.
