Barbara Ransby: Social Justice and Freedom Making in the 21st Century

Barbara Ransby, Distinguished Professor of History, African American
Studies, and Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Illinois
at Chicago will be delivering a lecture as part of the Social Justice
in Question Lecture Series.  The title of her talk is “Social Justice
and Freedom-making in the 21st Century: Lessons from Martin Luther
King, Jr, Ella Baker, and The Black Lives Matter Movement.”

She is author of Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement: A Radical
Democratic Vision; Eslanda: The Large and Unconventional Life of Mrs.
Paul Robeson; and Making All Black Lives Matter: Reimagining Freedom
in the 21st Century. Dr. Ransby is also the President of the National
Women’s Studies Association.
