Great to see this image of an early Oertling balance, in brass with the black arrestment frame. This looks to be a fair size – is it possible to label with the maximum weight it would carry, usually cast into the upper part of the beam?
Thanks, Mike! I looked pretty carefully, but could find nothing stamped in the beam, or anywhere, except for L. Oertling, London. I will tell you that the cabinet is 23″ X 28″ X 12″. The beam arm is about 20″ long. I will go back in with better lighting and see if I can find more.
