John McCleary is Professor of Mathematics on the Elizabeth Stillman Williams Chair of Mathematics at Vassar College. He received his Ph.D. from Temple University with a thesis on algebraic topology under the direction of James Stasheff. His main interest in topology is homotopy theory and its applications to manifold theory and geometry. He is also interested in the history of mathematics, particularly the history of geometry and of topology. He has published papers on elementary number theory and mathematical physics. His vita can be seen here.
