Spring Break Stories!! – Berk Meral ‘28

Welcome back, everyone…

Today I woke up to dozens of upset faces on campus. What an odd occurrence! The only question I asked myself was, why, and I was quick to find the answer.

It was because you guys had the MOST exciting spring break ever!! It is unfortunate that the break had to be cut short because we are college students or something but in honor of the good times spent I wanted to compile together a collage of what some of our friends have been up to during their break!

Yours truly, Berk, will be starting us off.

“I spent two whole weeks in the most exciting place ever… Connecticut. I got to attend the Gamer Convention at Hartford and leech knowledge off of ancient game developers, it was amazing. Here’s an Atari 2600 game console for reference. There were some really cool handcrafted items sold by the vendors, the coolest one was this steampunk clock hat. The rest of my time was spent with two lovely puppies of my friend, named Pickles and Olive respectively.”

Our next trip is a little south of our campus by Narek! Let’s hear from him.

“Hi everyone! For this spring break, Ruby and I visited the capital of the US Washington D.C. It was so shocking to see different architecture and urbanistic style compared to the rest of the U.S. We visited museums like the Holocause museum or the Art Gallery of Washington and were shocked by the richness of the capital. Overall, a great trip filled with laughter and joy! And, here are some pictures!”

Our next station is in Philadelphia with Jessie!

“I had a very wholesome and well-spent spring break at Philly with my high school friend. We explored the city, had some great cheesesteaks, and went on a road trip to the Jersey Beach. I also bonded with her cat named Pickle.”

At last, we have our fellow OIS Intern Mandy who happened to visit the Grand Canyon and took many cool pictures!

“This spring break, I hit the road and took in some seriously breathtaking sights—driving through the Grand Canyon, exploring the stunning curves of Antelope Canyon, and soaking up the vibes in LA. From desert landscapes to ocean breezes, it was a reminder of just how beautiful and diverse nature can be. Long drives, good music, and wide-open skies—there’s nothing like a road trip to reset and recharge!”

These are only a glimpse of all the fun adventures had in our community. We would love to hear more about your travel stories in the future so feel free to update us about your outings!

Always feel free to reach out to any of the OIS interns (no reason needed), or to schedule a meeting with the counseling services, even if you just would like to chat.

We hope you make the most out of the newly arrived spring before the heat of summer sets in. Here’s to many more trips!
