Image QC Cycle

  1. Images “read” for color correction, skew correction, etc., ensuring that large-form JPEG file meets specifications from VRL.
  2. Note error rate.
    1. If error rate > 30% after 10% of images have been checked, STOP.  There is a problem with the imaging.  Identify problem and resolution.
    2. Continue correcting service masters.
    3. Repeat until error rate < 5% [or all errors resolved?].

Metadata QC Cycle

  1. Metadata checked to ensure controlled fields, field data and types, and primary key identifiers are valid.
  2. Identify problems and report to catalogers in project.  Obtain additional information to resolve conflicts.
  3. 3. Resolve conflicts; repeat until error rate = _%.

OCR QC Cycle

  1. Create baseline for ABBYY Fine Reader via manual method.
  2. Run OCR on pages, calculate error rate.
  3. Correct errors on pre-determined fields (if possible).
  4. Resolve conflicts; repeat until error rate = _%.

Image + Metadata QC cycle

  1. Image file names checked against metadata to ensure that both data sets match.
    1. Report error rates:___ object errors in ___ objects
    2. Obtain additional information to resolve conflicts.
