Why this looks valid

  • The email appears to be from an actual Vassar user.
  • The email content is Vassar specific.
  • The link redirects to a page that resembles Dropbox, a file sharing service that Vassar does use.

Why this is phishing

  • The link in the email does not go to a Vassar site or any other service related to Vassar.
  • An email such as this claiming to show student awards would not come from any Vassar user, but a specific office related to academics.
  • Pages that ask a user to select their provider for login are usually phishing attempts.
