• This email might come from someone you know in the Vassar community, or a friend or family member

Why this is fraud

• This is an attempt to solicit funds based on a false story of hardship
• People traveling overseas have resources available to them in such situations – soliciting money in this way is never legitimate

Additional notes

• A phone call to the alleged sender would quickly verify if this is a legitimate email. It only takes a few minutes to pick up the phone!
• A little paranoia goes a long way! Be suspicious of any email messages similar to this one.
