“I love deadlines…I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.” (Douglas Adams)

by saraschmidt on November 15th, 2011

The leaves have fallen and Thanksgiving is a mere week away.  This means several things.  For students considering applying to Vassar, it means that the deadline for the first round of Early Decision has arrived.  Early Decision I applications are due by 11:59pm today (November 15th).   For those of you who have applied for ED I, ask yourself this question: “Did I submit my signed Early Decision contract?”  Worried that you missed the November 15th deadline?  Fear not!  There’s still plenty of time before the next deadline, January 1st.  Whether you plan to apply under Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision, do NOT let the application deadline “whoosh” by.

For those of us in the Office of Admission, November also means that the other admissions officers and I are putting our suitcases back into storage.  And in my case, figuring out where to display the postcards and souvenirs I picked up while on the road. My personal favorite find from my travels is this little bottle of West Virginia Coal.

With the end of travel season, soon we will be surrounded by stacks of application folders.  I can’t speak for my colleagues, but I love the changing admissions seasons.  I find it gratifying to leave the stresses of living out of a suitcase behind and focus on digging into this year’s applications.  I guess it’s the archaeology major in me, but I love the opportunity to peer into so many unique lives and experiences.

Good luck with your applications.  The other AOs and I look forward to reading them!
