“You’re now free to move about the country…”

by saraschmidt on September 21st, 2011

The calendar says “September” and there is a decidedly un-summery crispness in the morning air, at least here in Poughkeepsie.  This turn in the weather means many things:

 1) Vassar students have returned and are attending their fall classes (despite Irene’s troublesome visit).

2) My favorite caffeinated delight, the “Pumpkin Spice Latte”, is back at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and independent coffee houses alike.

And…

3) It’s time for me and the other Admission Officers to pack our bags and hit the road!

This fall my colleagues and I will be traveling near and far to visit high schools and attend college fairs in over 41 states, plus DC and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and 13 countries.  In addition, AOs will be hosting Regional Evening Receptions in 6 cities across the country.    Find out if we’ll be traveling to your neck of the woods on our website:

And in case all this talk of travel inspires you, fall is an excellent time to take a trip and visit Vassar (our campus is a registered arboretum after all!  Just imagine the beautiful foliage).  Once again we’ll be hosting two, on campus Fall Open Houses on October 10th (Columbus Day) and November 11th (Veteran’s Day).  There will be special opportunities to tour our science or arts facilities, and attend a midday athletics and recreation reception in the Athletic and Fitness Center.  Details and registration information are available here:

Or, if avoiding larger crowds is more your speed, why not create your own visit? Information about campus tour and info session schedules, as well as overnight and class visits, are now available on our website.  Check it out!
