Meet Ethan

by admin on July 18th, 2011

Ethan Shanley is a rising senior from Old Town, Maine majoring in History.  For his first three years at Vassar he lived in Josselyn Hall and will be moving into the Town Houses for his senior year.  Ethan is on the Varsity Basketball Team, plays the Lead Trumpet in the Vassar College Jazz Ensemble and is a sportswriter for the Miscellany News (Vassar’s student newspaper).  Here are his reasons for choosing Vassar, in his own words:

In my college search, I was really looking for a small liberal arts college, specifically one where I could participate in both academics and athletics at a high level.  I applied to and visited a bunch of different colleges, but when I came to Vassar I fell in love.   After going on an awesome tour, looking around the campus, and listening to stories of my mom when she was a student here, I knew Vassar was the place for me.  I returned to campus in the fall of my senior year of high school for an overnight visit, but really that was just icing on the cake.  While it was hard for me to leave my home state of Maine, I knew Vassar would be an incredible place and I haven’t looked back since.
