Goodbye and Hello

by admin on May 26th, 2011

On Sunday we said goodbye to the Vassar class of 2011 during our 147th commencement.  It is a bittersweet moment because we are sad to see them go, but we also look forward to the class of 2015 who will arrive on campus in a few short months.  2015 will be one of the most diverse and amazing classes we have ever had at Vassar and here are some interesting facts about them.  The class of 2015 will be 55 percent women and 45 percent men (the national average is 57/43).  The most common female name in the class is Sarah, there are 9.  The most common male name is Benjamin, there are a whopping 12 in the class.  The states sending the most students are New York, California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Texas, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Vermont, and  Washington.  We will also have students from over 30 different foreign countries.  38 percent of the class will be students of color.  Right now on campus we are busy with summer improvements to make the campus even better and more beautiful for the class of 2015 and all of our returning students as well.  But don’t worry, we are still open for tours.
