Wanna Be Baller, Shot Caller…

by on March 10th, 2011

Spotted: the President of the College and all of the Senior Officers dressed in matching costumes. Costumes that included black top hats and some pretty fancy red Ts. If the top hats weren’t exciting enough for you, then let me add that they also performed a little song and dance while wearing the top hats. For what you ask? For our cameo in Glee! No, I’m kidding. It was actually for something much better. The song and dance were for the annual Student vs. Faculty/Administrator/Staff basketball game which took place last week. 1200 members of Vassar’s community came to support the game as well as the Senior Class, as all proceeds went towards the 2011 Class Gift. Well, I think most people came to support the Class Gift; perhaps a few were excited by the opportunity to boo and heckle Faculty and Administrators, whose team name was “Old School.” The President of the College and the Senior Officers did an impressive little dance during halftime. It ended up being a pretty suspenseful game! At the end of the fourth quarter, fans were at a fever-pitch as the two teams were tied at 36-36. The students pushed ahead, scoring 13 points during the three minute overtime, ending the game at 49-41. Like Quincy Mills (Professor of History) said in an interview before the game, this showcased “Vassar’s pride at it’s best.” Go Brewers!
