On Thursday, September 13th, Tim Youd’s exhibition,\u00a0Tim Youd: The Hudson Valley Retyped<\/em>, will open at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center. To mark the opening, there will be a reception from 5:30-9:00 pm. During the reception Youd will be in the gallery retyping of Elizabeth Bishop’s\u00a0The Complete Poems: 1927 – 1979<\/em>. He will continue this performance on Vassar’s campus through September 18th. As always, he will be happy to answer any questions about his project.<\/p>\n

The Art Center’s exhibition marks the culmination of Youd’s retyping of novels set in the Hudson Valley. Beginning this past spring and continuing through the summer, Youd traveled\u00a0to eight different locations\u2013Poughkeepsie, Ossining,\u00a0Nyack, Yonkers, Catskill, Albany, Ghent, and Hudson\u2013each corresponding to a novel’s setting or the author’s biography. Using site-specific performances, Youd became closer to the authors and the stories which he retyped. The finished products on view are beautiful ink soaked pages, markers of both the duration Youd spent typing and the time of the novels’ narratives.<\/p>\n
