Fiber art, of course! Well, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but considering the role art plays in resistance and inspiring cultural change, maybe thinking about revolution should conjure up ideas of art. Art can be the creative act of story-telling, reimagining, and empowering all wrapped up together, as we see with so many movements around the world. In this talk from our crochet project, Rick explains a bit of the history of the involvement of fiber art with resistance movements and politics.

Rick has degrees in art and political science and works with a variety of media, including paper cuts, painting and print-making. He often looks to science and culture as sources of inspiration for his pieces, and he has played an instrumental role in making this project happen!

I hope you enjoy this video on fiber art as a form of protest, and come by this afternoon from 3 to 6 pm for the opening of our crochet reef!

-Maya

P.S.
