The STMS Conference is an opportunity for undergraduates from across divisions to present their research on myriad topics related to the intersections of science, technology, medicine, and society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Due to the pandemic, this year\u2019s conference will be held remotely, April 9\u201310, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conference panels, consisting of undergraduate student presenters, will be moderated by faculty members and run on April 9th and 10th. In addition, Vassar is delighted to announce that <strong>Jennifer Brea<\/strong> will be the keynote speaker for the STMS Conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We invite your students to participate in this exciting opportunity to share their research, meet other STS students, and engage with STS scholars. The call for submissions will open on March 3rd<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. An online submission form will be available on this page.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vassar\u2019s STS Program looks forward to hosting this year\u2019s STMS Conference and to holding space during this busy and tumultuous time for catalytic STS discourse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keynote Speaker Bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Jennifer Brea<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is an independent filmmaker and co-founder of #MEAction, an international advocacy network for people with disabilities and chronic illness. Her Sundance award-winning, Emmy-nominated feature documentary, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Unrest, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">has screened in over 30 countries and had its US national broadcast on PBS\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Independent Lens<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
