{"id":8688,"date":"2013-02-22T17:48:16","date_gmt":"2013-02-22T22:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/rosso\/?page_id=8688"},"modified":"2016-05-24T18:22:53","modified_gmt":"2016-05-24T22:22:53","slug":"doc-27","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/rosso\/catalogues\/documents\/doc-27\/","title":{"rendered":"DOC.27 1532"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rosso\u2019s wages, perhaps for one of the quarters of that year.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly Paris?, Archives of Baron de Joursanvault.<\/p>\n<p><i>Catalogue analytique des archives de M. le baron de Joursanvault<\/i>, Paris, 1838, I, no. 827: \u201cDix pieces: pensions de Roux de Roux peintre du roi;&#8230; (and of other artists and artisans)&#8230; 1532-1577.\u201d\u00a0 This piece was noted in Laborde, <i>Renaissance<\/i>, I, 1850, 199-200, as \u201cPension de Roux de Roux, painctre du Roy, 1532,\u201d with the comment that this must be a settlement for one of the quarters, apparently meaning of 1532.\u00a0 Laborde\u2019s dating of the document comes from the first date of the range of dates given for the ten pieces.\u00a0 Noting, however, the frequent delays of payment, the wages could have been for 1531.<\/p>\n<p>The archivist informed me that the Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale in Paris bought only those documents in this collection beginning with piece no. 2227; the other documents were sold at a public auction that, as indicated in a slip contained in Vol. II of the catalogue in the Biblioth\u00e8que Nationale, was held on October 15, 1838.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rosso\u2019s wages, perhaps for one of the quarters of that year.
