Three episodes of this design are related, in reverse, to sections of Rosso\u2019s Revenge of Nauplius<\/em> in the Gallery of Francis I but are not derived from this fresco itself nor from Fantuzzi\u2019s or Garnier\u2019s prints of this scene (Fig.E.71<\/a>; Fig.E.89<\/a>).\u00a0 The exposure of Nauplius\u2019s genitals relates this print to a lost drawing by Rosso known from a copy at Besan\u00e7on (Fig.D.59<\/a>).\u00a0 Therefore, it appears that Du Cerceau\u2019s print is partially derived either from Rosso\u2019s lost drawing or from a copy of it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
