(10.7 x 17.4 S).\u00a0 New York, 62.525, no. 27.<\/p>\n<p>LITERATURE:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Zerner, in <em>RdA<\/em>, 1972, 117, Fig. 178.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e9guin and Pressouyre, 1972, 126.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With some variations, this etching appears almost certainly to be based on Fantuzzi\u2019s print (<a href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/rosso\/files\/2012\/04\/E.64-Priest-Herms-Vienna.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Fig.E.64<\/a>) related to the frame of the <em>Combat of Centaurs and Lapiths<\/em> in the Gallery of Francis I.\u00a0 But in Du Cerceau\u2019s print both nudes at the top play the same instruments, the garlands at the sides are different, and the discs held by the herm-priests do not show the Royal F.\u00a0 The salamander is in reverse.\u00a0 Basically, Du Cerceau\u2019s print reproduces the left half of Fantuzzi\u2019s etching and then reverses it at the right.<\/p>\n<p>COPY: London, Case 168, no.
