In both <i>Uncle Eph\u2019s Christmas <\/i>(1899) and <i>Just Lak White Fo\u2019ks<\/i> (1900), a female character, Parthenia Jenkins and Mandy, respectively, represents Anita Florence Hemmings. This is evident through the character singing a verse from &#8220;I\u2019m the Colored Girl from Vassar,&#8221; seen below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 73\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There once was a school that was so very rare.<br \/>\nThat a poor dusky maid couldn\u2019t breathe its very air.<br \/>\nYou couldn\u2019t enter unless you were a millionaire.<br \/>\nTo be ought but a blue blood or swell you didn\u2019t dare.<br \/>\nI am the first dark belle who ever went to Vassar.<br \/>\nI played my part so well, I came from Madagascar.<br \/>\nThey thought I was a swell and the boys they did adore<br \/>\nAnd if I gave a smile, they quickly asked for more.<br \/>\nThey sent bouquets galore to the elegant brunette.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve got a stocking store of their <em>billet deux<\/em>.<br \/>\nThey did not know sufficient to come in from out the wet.<br \/>\nAnd now they\u2019re sore, they\u2019re sore you bet.
