It is an inspirational reading program that seeks to encourage children to become excited about reading more and to strengthen their comprehension skills. It provides structures for students to improve their literacy skills by being tested regularly on the literature they are reading. Through this program educators are able to pinpoint the children’s strengths and weaknesses and identify where their improvements could be made.

Position Description: Read the World is looking for volunteers to go to the schools and help the program test the students for the competition. The volunteers will be heading to the school periodically and be administering the compression tests to the students in the competition. These tests will determine the winner of the competition with the book the students are given. The three students who score the highest throughout the program will compete in a “Jeopardy” style game where they can win prizes.
