SUMMARY:Navigating Feedback: Deepening Collaboration in the Conversations We Need (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Imagine feeling supported to approach conversations you usually dread\, feeling grounded\, clear\, confident and compassionate. \nWhen we’re working with others\, it is important to make space for feedback that strengthens both our shared work and our relationships. Often\, we shy away from engaging if feedback isn’t 100% positive. It can be fraught. But there are ways of navigating feedback that hold the promise of growth\, insight\, and greater trust and connection. \nDuring this 5-session\, online workshop\, we will explore practical strategies for navigating needed feedback conversations through the framework of the Feedback Spiral. The image of the spiral will remind us both that the process of feedback can be iterative and cyclical\, as well as transformative and collaborative (vs. unilateral). \nThrough engagement with the Feedback Spiral\, this course will support you to move through a series of replicable steps to help you prepare for offering as well as responding to offers of feedback. \nMore info & Registration here

SUMMARY:Town of Poughkeepsie Town Board meeting
DESCRIPTION:workshop meeting. No votes will be taken\, but the board will discuss three proposed changes to our Town Code: increasing fines to hold landlords more accountable for nuisance parties; adopting an application process and rules for commercial filmmakers who seek to work in the Town; and a proposal for “inclusionary zoning”. The last of these would require that any real estate developer who proposes a project in the Town of ten units or more\, either for rental or home ownership\, set aside one out of each ten units as affordable / workforce housing. We will discuss the details of this on Wednesday night. By adopting this approach\, some nearby municipalities have succeeded in substantially increasing the supply of new affordable housing. I will also give an update Wednesday on plans for relocating the Police / Courts from the Tucker Drive site\, and other board members will report on committee activities.

SUMMARY:Past\, Present\, and Future: Supporting our Changing Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:Past\, Present\, and Future: Supporting our Changing Landscapes \nBiological communities are always in a state of change. By exploring how plant communities in the Mid-Hudson region have changed in the past\, we gain an important perspective on current patterns. How has the gain and loss of species over time shaped our landscape? What can we learn from previous ecological restoration projects? And what practical approaches can we take now to support overall biodiversity in this region and beyond? \nDr. Meg Ronsheim is a Professor of Biology at Vassar College. Her current area of research focuses on the impact and management of invasive vines\, forest regeneration\, and restoration ecology. A number of you will recognize her from the wonderful walk and talk she gave us at Locust Grove last spring. Bring your native plant questions for a lively discussion. \nThe second annual meeting of Wild Ones Mid-Hudson Valley will follow Meg’s talk. You will learn more about our work and opportunities to get involved. Snacks and coffee available. \nAll are invited! \nRegistration is required. Register here! \nIf you have any questions\, please contact wildonesmhv@gmail.com. \nSubscribe to our monthly newsletter to receive program announcements.
