SUMMARY:Boundless Creativity: Immigrant Artists in the Hudson Valley
DESCRIPTION:EXHIBITION OPENING: Saturday\, April 5th\, 4:30-6:30PM\, in the Reher Center Gallery \nBoundless Creativity celebrates the vision of immigrant artists in the Hudson Valley\, showcasing works that at times reference national identity and oftentimes transcend it. \nIdentity is a construct\, the sum of experiences past and present. Boundless highlights intersections of heritage\, international experience\, and contemporary expression through a range of mediums and styles. If there is a theme of the show it is one of diversity connected by the thread of the Hudson Valley. \nCreativity knows no bounds- like the human spirit\, creativity moves freely across borders\, shaping and reshaping our shared world. \nAn Exhibition of the Work of: \nAndrew Lyght \nNestor Madalengoita \nNaoko Oshima \nElisa Pritzker \nAnat Shiftan \nLearn About the Exhibition here \n

SUMMARY:100 Years of Hopper: Celebrating Grace Hopper '28
DESCRIPTION:Grace Murray Hopper ’28 \nApr. 10\, 2025\, 5:00–7:00 p.m. \nLocation: Vassar Institute for the Liberal Arts \nFrom Vassar: \n“Vassar will celebrate Grace Hopper\, America’s “Queen of Code\,” with an event at The Vassar Institute for the Liberal Arts. Hopper\, Vassar Class of 1928\, arrived at the College as a student a century ago. While much of pop culture assigns the origins of the modern tech era to the garages of men on the West Coast\, the centennial celebration honors the legacy of a woman whose early tech industry impact was made from a lab on the East Coast during World War II. Also called the ”Mother of Modern Computing\,” Hopper majored in mathematics and physics (before it was possible to major in computer science) and returned to Vassar to become a mathematics professor. In addition to her contributions to the nascent field of Computer Science\, she rose to the rank of Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy. \nJoin us in celebrating a trailblazer who not only revolutionized computing but also understood the longstanding and critically important relationship between the liberal arts and technological innovation. While this event is open to the public\, registration is required.”

SUMMARY:Italian Movie Night
DESCRIPTION:La Tigre e la Neve (The Tiger and the Snow)\n2005 1h 54min\n\nLove and injury in time of war. The film is simply an ode to love. Attilio de Giovanni teaches poetry in Italy. He has a romantic soul\, and women love him. But he is in love with Vittoria\, and the love is unrequited. Every night he dreams of marrying her\, in his boxer shorts and t-shirt\, as Tom Waits sings. Vittoria travels to Iraq with her friend\, Fuad\, a poet; they are there when the second Gulf War breaks out. Vittoria is injured. Attilio must get to her side\, and then\, as war rages around him\, he must find her the medical care she needs.\nLa tigre e la neve is the last film directed by Benigni It is a successful romantic comedy\, a fairytale about life and death\, love and war\, happiness and sadness. La tigre e la neve has a powerful message for everyone: war transforms life into a real tragedy\, but love makes it worthwhile. When people let love blossom\, life becomes a fairy tale.\n\nWith English subtitles\n$5 donation suggested
